4th of July

Waiting for the parade to start

Me and Elliot

Richard & Libs

The parade was really long, so we went to the park for the last part and enjoyed the swings

She would swing all day if I would let her and push her "higher!"

Made us some festive desserts

We set up our tiny little pool for the kids

Libby wouldn't hold still for a picture

Me and Libby did a 4th of July craft project together
The tablet never published my post, so I finally downloaded the pics onto the computer. It was a Fun fun day. Parade, park, good food, swimming, crafts, relaxing, and fireworks! The fireworks were literally across the street from our apartment, so we went out and watched and got Libby out of bed so she could see them too. She thought they were pretty neat, but got a little scared during the finally because it was so loud. She told us she needed to go back to bed. It was nice to have a day together where we didn't have church, school or work--we don't get enough of those. I've always loved the 4th of July, maybe because my bday is 2 days later, I don't know, but I always have good memories from this time of year. This year was a good one too.

Firsts

We had a few firsts this week!

Libby got her first haircut! Mostly just bangs and a little trimming in the back. She keeps saying: "I look just like Sleeping beauty and cinderelly!"

Right after the haircut

In case you are wondering, she is naked probably 85% of the time if we are inside....I don' tknow why she hates clothes so much, but whatever. I don't care that much.
Elliot is getting his first tooth! Just barely poking through, so it's too hard to get a picture of it yet, but it's in there, trust me. No wonder he's been a bit clingy and a little grumpy the last few days.
Love this face, not sure if I posted this picture before, but it's so cute it deserves to be here 2x if it was in fact in an earlier post

we were trying to get him to get up on his hands and knees, but he wouldn't bend those legs and stayed in a bear crawl position for awhile. maybe he'll just bear crawl instead.
One of my kids is super photogenic...guess which one :)
Seriously, all I have to do is get the camera out and he smiles his adorable smile at me.

so I wrote a 4th of july post on the 4th with pictures, but i did it on the tablet and apparently the blogger app for the tablet is retarded and it is still "publishing" it. I will have to put the pics on the main computer. stay tuned....

conversations I never thought I'd have.....

Mostly these are for me so I can remember the things she said as a 2 year old. They make me laugh. Who knew 2 yr olds could be so hilarious

Libby: I want a snack
mom: what do you want to eat? apples, graham crackers, carrots?
Libby: POOP!
mom: Eww Libby, you can't have poop
Libby: I WANT TO EAT POOP! (chanted repeatedly while I ignored her and got something else for her)

Sometimes I do not know what goes on in that little girl's head

Mom: Libby you're smart. You have a smart brain. Your brain is inside your head.
Libby: open it?
Mom: open what?
LIbby: my head.
Mom: You can't open your head
Libby: I wanna open it. I wanna see the brain!

Libby (sitting on the floor pulling on her toes): Scream
Mom: What Libby?
Libby: Off! I need this off! (continuing to pull her toes)
Mom: your toes?
Libby: yes! (more exasperated screams) I need my toes off!
Mom: Libby you can't take your toes off. You need them to help you walk. They have to stay on your feet
Libby: No! I need them off Mom!

Libby has also started to make up stories, which are pretty entertaining:

L:A black monster was at the dr's office and it trying bite me!
M:oh no! what did you do?
L:I climb into the cart.
M:did it try to bite mommy and elliot?
L:yes. And woody and buzz were at the drs with us.
M:what about woody? did he save us?
L:no. the black monster bite woody. but, the aliens save us from the black monster. the black monster is scary.
M:did the aliens protect us?
L:yes, aliens protect us from the black monster.

After nursery this week she told me she protected Eli from the monsters. :) So funny.

Libby brings her 2 child chairs into the middle of the living room placing them side by side. She climbs into one and says: C'mon Woody it's time for our lesson. You sit in the blue chair.
M: what are you doing?
L: We're having a lesson in our nursery class. We go to primary. (She then continued to chat with an imaginary Woody about things that happened in nursery.)
It was pretty darn adorable. I convinced her to sing to me songs from Primary.  Oh and she told me "Heavenly father loves me!" SO CUTE!

TEXAS pictures!

I've realized I suck at remembering to take pictures, so I don't really have many from our trip. Also this is the 3rd post today, so don't forget to keep scrolling for more pictures.

I've been neglecting our blog....

it's been a busy few months. 3 trips in a month and a half! End of April we went to Utah for my brother Matt's wedding to Ashley. May we were in Texas for Richard's brother Orson's graduation from law school. Beginning of June the kids and I went to California for my Grandpa Olive's funeral. Lots of driving and traveling with 2 little kids....not my favorite thing, but glad we went on all 3 trips. I love my family. We'll be heading up to Washington in August for Penny's wedding! Yay! We are excited.

Libby update: Favorite phrases: "I do it all by myself", "mom, I being so so careful" "I need some chalocolate" (I love how she says chocolate) Favorite character/movie: Toy story. She has a serious obsession. Best friend: Orson, although she does love all the kids in her nursery class.  Favorite thing to do: Swing at the park, use stamps, play with friends, watch toy story. Favorite song: You've got a friend in me.

Elliot update. Sits up very well. Put things in and out of his mouth (pulls binky in and out, very proud of himself and holds bottle very well). Grabs everything he can reach. Rolls to get toys. Loves baths and swimming. Still super happy and smiley. Eats baby food and little yogurt melts--not a fan of most solid-type foods like cheerios.

Richard update: Semester is more than half over. yippee! Bought a bike at DI and rides to school (if he gets up early enough). new calling at church with me: Primary teacher for CTR 7! Pretty awesome. We have 2 girls in our class, both from kind of odd family situations which is interesting and both will hopefully be getting baptized at teh end of the summer.

Becky update: New calling (see above). Done a few sewing projects: Cool stroller bag, little outfit for Elliot (almost done), skirt for Libby, fish bags. I also was put in charge of a walking group for our ward. Okay, doesn't sound exciting, but I am happy because I think it will get me walking/exercising more. I tend not to walk as far when I'm by myself with the kids. And it's pretty hard to do any other kind of exercise besides walk with 2 kids. Plus I get to visit with friends while we walk. Time for picture dump....
Richard's father's day present: pop rocks, pop tarts, tootsie pops, soda pop and popcorn
Libby thought she was hilarious when she put the johnny jump up on and walked around
Handsome boy in his church clothes!
Shoulder rides :)
Cool hair-do I did for Libby
Libby making her own cooking sensation.....
my boys
Why is Libby in a basket on the porch? I was wondering the same thing....Sometimes 2 yr olds have interesting ideas of fun.

Made this outfit this week for Elliot and holy smokes does he have a cute face. I think it looks like a little jailbird outfit. Oh and look how good he's sitting now!
Found a high chair at a garage sale a few weeks ago. The kids love it. Elliot, stop getting so big!

They looked so cute in their diaper bums I had to get a picture

Love Elliot's face in this one.

Elliot's getting into everything now. I left the room for a minute and he was so happy he had grabbed the bag of diapers and shook all the diapers out.

At the zoo. We went with Julie, Mike and Zach.

Bear World

We went to Bear World with Penny and Tim when they came up to visit for Memorial Day. It was pretty awesome
Yes, that is a bear on top of Tim's car
